Trent – Before and After

Almost every Friday of the year, we bring new men into our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program.  They graduate on Friday one year later.
Last Friday, Trent graduated.  He could not make it for the afternoon chapel service where we celebrate each graduation because he was doing what we like our graduates to do – he was at work!  But he did send a letter to be read to the guys and encouraged them to stay and experience what he did.
That morning, before he left for his second shift job, Trent also came into our morning classes and told the guys how angry he was when he first arrived here.  He didn’t believe in God or himself and he didn’t plan to stay very long.
But he did stay, started listening and connected to God.  It changed his attitudes and actions, even his whole countenance.
Four months ago, Trent began full-time, but temporary, employment at a large corporation in the area.  Since then he has been certified on three different pieces of equipment there and, Friday morning in my class, he announced that he had just been given a permanent position at his job.
He feels like it has all been miraculous.  I agree.  God is good, all the time.
