From the Streets to Staff Member … Michael’s Life Has Dramatically Changed

Men's Get Help March 2022 1

“I’d been to other recovery programs. But after 2-3 weeks, I saw that beyond meeting all my needs — food, clothing, shelter — the staff at HUM really cared about me. When I started working at the front desk, I got to help people coming in off the street … I liked being able to tell them my story and I realized I’d like to help people full time. Today, I’m a graduate of the Spiritual Recovery Program… and now I’m on staff here as the Philanthropy Coordinator, helping collect the daily essentials from the community for men who have just joined the program.”

“I knew if I didn’t stop my drug use, it would kill me… and realized that I couldn’t do it alone. I needed a safe place to land… and that’s what Helping Up Mission offers.”
