Effective May 24, 2021

Dear Helping Up Mission Family –

At Helping Up Mission (HUM), we understand the concern and uncertainty many are experiencing surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Please know and trust that the health and well-being of our clients, our staff, volunteers, on-site partners, and visitors are top priorities.

Our board and senior leaders, staff, and community partners are committed to being responsive to their needs as this ever-changing situation evolves – while we preserve the structure, schedule and impact of our life-saving and transforming programs and services.

Needless to say, the pandemic has had a measurable impact on our city, region, state and beyond.  Each member of the HUM family is personally impacted as well, yet we are deeply grateful for the safe and healthy environment in our facilities, to protect our clients and staff.

Tangible steps have been taken each day during the past few months to protect all persons and preserve our programs and services.

  • In early March 2020, we established an internal Coronavirus Response Coordination Team (CRCT) led by Chief Operating Officer Daniel Stoltzfus and comprised of staff leaders from every functional area: Programs, Spiritual Life, Operations, Facilities, Food Services, IT and Philanthropy – meeting each morning as necessary (by video conference call) with updates and discussion of any recent actions/orders taken at state and local authorities.
  • Due to the recommendations of the CRCT team, We are now able to welcome volunteers and visitors back on campus.  see /Volunteer
  • Family visits have been reinstated this week; health checks upon arrival and masks during visits.

We are in this together and will continue to serve and protect each other from this virus and maintain the focus in providing life-saving and transforming care for the 540 men and women with us who desperately need our help.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these times.

Our resources continue to be challenged to the limit, and we need your faithful prayers, encouragement and financial gifts to sustain our programs and services throughout the summer, when giving drops.  If you are able, please give a special COVID-19 gift at www.helpingupmission.org/covidgift
