Proverb for the Day 13:7 — Faking it!

One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

This verse contrasts two very different guys, who still have something in common. Both desire to be seen as someone they are not!

The first guy pretends to be rich, but isn’t. This doesn’t sound healthy, because he apparently is not comfortable with himself and his status in life. He feels the need to be seen as something he is not (sounds like the guy in 12:9). This is no way to try and go through life.

The second guy also pretends to be something he is not. He is a wealthy man, but doesn’t feel the need to be seen and known that way. It may be that he doesn’t want his wealth to get in the way of relationships or he doesn’t want to make things happen simply because he is a man of means and can. I like this guy and his attitude.
