A Bright Guy…

Last year at this time Randy was in jail. When released in the spring he came to Helping Up Mission and is finishing nine months here.

Once here, Randy got focused and began making changes in his life. He started working on his high school diploma, began to eat right and work out. Randy also began developing his conscious contact with the God of the Bible – and what do you know, things did change!

Our HUM Vocational Coordinator has been working for months to open a special pathway to employment for our guys with one of the city’s major employers. That door has opened and he wanted to have a good guy step through first – to set the stage for many to follow afterwards. Randy starts there in a week!

Remember that high school diploma thing Randy was working on? He earned the highest score ever at Helping Up Mission on his GED exams. Based on that, a local college has even offered him an academic scholarship.

I don’t know where this is all going in Randy’s life, but I do know he’s another example of the sons and grandsons, fathers and grandfathers, uncles and brothers, cousins and nephews who are part of our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program.

I also know this recovery stuff works – always and only…
