“He’s My Dad Again!”

Mickey struggles with alcohol and has been at Helping Up Mission about 5 months. His wife and 13-year old son live in Columbia, Maryland and have been carrying on sufficiently without him.

It was up in the air as to whether he would be going to the house on Thanksgiving. Family is up in Boston and Mickey’s wife and son were planning to go. But they didn’t.

So his wife called and invited Mickey to the house for Thanksgiving. They came and picked him up and took him to the house. He had a nice time with them and he thought they enjoyed it, too.

The fact is, it went so well that his wife invited him back on Friday. She came and picked him up that morning and he spent that day with them, too. When they brought Mickey back that Friday, they asked if we wanted to come back again on Saturday, too!

Needless to say, Mickey was pretty pleased to be invited home just for Thanksgiving, let alone 3 straight days. They all had a great Saturday together, too.

At the end, Mickey’s wife told him that she asked their son how he felt about having dad at the house. “He’s my dad again!” was the enthusiastic response.

Man, this Jesus stuff really does work!
