The first 45 days of our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program are spent on restriction. A guy is supposed to quit focusing on people, places and things out there and begin focusing on himself here. Getting off restriction is a big deal.
To support his addiction, Jerry frequently stole from family and friends. He’s been here 45 days and is now off restriction, but no one wants to see him yet – except his sister. Jerry spent time with her over the weekend and it was good. Said he didn’t even think about taking anything!
Everywhere Larry went, his MO (modus operandi) was to scope everything out because he might want to steal something to support his addiction. Off restriction this weekend, he went home and didn’t even think about scoping anything out! He announced in class this week, “Its working!”
Denny’s dad dropped him off here 40 days ago. It was either go to HUM or go live in the woods. Now off restriction, dad invited him home this past weekend. He even came and picked him up and they had a great time together.
Monty’s dad passed away a few years ago and he would frequently accompany his mother to the cemetery. But Monty was always uncomfortable. Off restriction this weekend, mom picked him up and they stopped at the cemetery again on the way home. Monty said it felt different this time and figured out it was because he feels better about himself these days.
It is working!
