Mickey is grateful. In his late twenties, he has now been clean 60 days. Mickey said in class last week that he has not had 60 days without some sort of chemical since he was 12 years old. He’s thinking it’s a miracle or something – and he’s right. It is!
Before coming here to our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program, Mickey went to the psych-detox unit where my wife works in Montgomery County. Over the past decade they have probably averaged a referral a month and every year we graduate one or two of them.
Mickey’s one of the latest and there’s no doubt in his mind that God brought him here. He is finding some inner peace and has hope again – and he hasn’t used for 60 days!
He is appreciating every single day of sobriety and we rejoice with him. But, with Mickey, we also know its not about what he did yesterday – it’s all about today…
