2008 to 2014 – It’s Still Working!

Darrin got to Helping Up Mission in 2008, with a drug problem. He’d had a business career but just found it impossible to keep things together while using.

When he joined our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program, in his mind, Darrin surrendered to a Plan bigger than him, even bigger than HUM. He did what he was supposed to do and took a job in the community during the final phase of the Program.

Graduating one year later, Darrin continued working in the city, living on campus in our graduate transitional housing. In 2011, he moved off campus while still working locally.

I spoke with his this week and Darrin just recently purchased his own home. He is getting married later this year. Of course, he’s not perfect and life isn’t perfect for him, but things are going pretty well.

Darrin expressed his gratitude for all he received while he was here at Helping Up Mission. We are happy for him today, too.

Of course, his experience can be anyone’s – once we’re ready to surrender to a Power greater than ourselves. This Jesus stuff really does work…
