A St. Patty’s Day For Which St. Patrick Would Be Proud!

With Monday being Saint Patrick’s Day, Roy commented in class on Tuesday that this was the first “day after” St Patty’s Day in a long time that he could remember what he had done the day before!

Roy has struggled with addiction for 20 years, mostly PCP.  He grew up with the stuff in his home. Dad is gone, but mom has been clean 10 years now.

So this year, as a member of our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program, Roy was not quite sure what to do with a clean and sober SPD!

But mom contacted him and said she was coming to see him in Baltimore on Sunday. She brought Roy’s sister and niece with her and they watched the Saint Patrick’s Day parade and had dinner together. It was a meaningful time for him.

Then Roy worked part the day here at Helping Up Mission on Monday and remembered the whole weekend to be able to tell us about it on Tuesday!

With a smile, he said it felt good to do the right things all weekend long and to be able to talk about it afterwards – a new experience for him!
