In class last week, George talked about reconnecting with his daughter. This happens a lot for guys in our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program at Helping Up Mission.
Once guys stop using and begin to think clearly again, one of the first things they want to do is reconnect to family – especially their children. In most cases, this is the family they once abandoned and have hurt deeply.
George reached out to his daughter. He found her online through another family member. She’s in college today – in Georgia.
George hasn’t seen her in 16 years! And she was glad to hear from him!
While they will certainly have some issues to address in the future, its so wonderful that people can begin to change and can have a chance to redo – undo – some of the wreckage of their past.
