Praying Grandmas!

When I was growing up in Prince George’s County, Maryland my parents had friends who had a wonderful spiritual impact on my life. While that was decades ago and all had moved out of the area, my mom is still in touch with the wife.

While I was at my dig in the Holy Land last month, this friend asked my mother if I would visit her grandson, Charles, in a 28-day rehab here in the Frederick area. Mom passed his name to me, but by the time I was able to get to him last week, he was gone.

In recent decades my parents have lived in Pennsylvania. This past year they moved to an independent living facility near us here in Frederick, Maryland. I had gotten to know lots of the other residents there and speak with many of them regularly.

This weekend, I had dinner there with my parents and the lady who sat next to my mother asked if I would talk with her. She told me she had a grandson…Charles…who just left a 28-day rehab…here in the Frederick area…

I paused a moment and then told Grandma 2 about my earlier message from Grandma 1. She was stunned. None of us had any idea of the past or present connections our families had with each other.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in Charles life, but I’m pretty sure God’s got His eye on him. Thank God for praying grandmas (and grandpas!).
