Anthony, Alcohol, Baby’s Momma & Boss!

Tony’s a young guy – in his early twenties. He arrived at Helping Up Mission for our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program after he allowed alcohol to make his life unmanageable.

A bright young man, once he showed up, Tony was serious about working his recovery. But he addressed much more than just getting clean from alcohol. Tony reconnected with God and then, with some counseling, began addressing some of the emotional and psychological issues in his life.

Like so many guys here, he’s smart, capable and skilled. But, along with the other guys, Tony also found that chemicals made it impossible for him to function as that guy day by day.

So, it’s been over 4 months now and lots of attitudes and actions have changed. In fact, Tony’s whole life has starting to regroup.

While his relationship with her mother may be over, Tony has a 24-month old daughter whom he loves very much. But, while living in his addiction, he wasn’t allowed to have contact with her.

But this is a different guy and his baby’s momma can see it. She actually brings his little girl here to HUM so Tony can spend time with her. He’s very grateful!

While Tony was a good worker, alcohol took its toll and he was eventually fired from his job – not long before coming here. But recently Tony started communicating with his boss again and was told Tony there was a place for him when he’s eligible to come back to work!

He’s a young man who can make a difference both at a place of business and in a little girl’s life! It will happen as Tony works at it…one day at a time.
