Stepping Out and Moving On!

Last weekend Helping Up Mission celebrated 130 grads in our 130th year of operation. It was a great time as we honored our Spiritual Recovery Program Class of 2015.

But, by the time the weekend ended, it was also a time to send a number of them off — to live out in the community where they’ve been working this past year.

After 15 months here, Joe moved back to the eastern shore where his family is located. It’s been over a decade since he was around his people, but he’s going back — and pursuing a lifetime dream career opportunity.

Steve relocated to a community north of Baltimore to be near family and his new job. He graduated from here over a year ago and now, after two and a half years living on our campus, is ready to take the next step.

Dan’s been here for a year and a half. He left over the weekend to live in the community where he’s from. With an established network of support, he’ll be living near where he’s been working for 6 months

This coming Friday Doug officially completes his 52 weeks and will move the following weekend near his job of 6 months on the other side of Baltimore. He’ll be living and working with the folks in his recovery network.

I’m a little sad about seeing them go…but that’s actually why they came here! We invited them to join our Program, experience spiritual recovery, regroup their lives and reconnect with their people.

It worked! And, now, there they go…

Still One Day at a Time,
