Love It When A Plan Comes Together!

Roy, 52, arrived at Helping Up Mission in the cold weather last January. He’s struggled with addiction for decades and did want to quit — but that day, he just wanted to get out of the cold!

Once here, Roy decided it would be a good idea to stay a while…and he joined our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program. Warm, dry, well-fed and not so toxic anymore, he started feeling pretty good again.

But Roy also started getting serious about spiritual recovery and I’ve watched him grow in faith, responsibility and maturity. He began to have some hope about himself…and his future.

So, after 8 months here, this morning he came to showed me his new ID badge…Roy’s enrolled in college! After years of never getting around to it, he’s pursuing a career field in which he’s always been interested.

Roy also pointed out — last year at this time he was sitting in jail! It’s taken a while…but I think Roy’s finally getting around to be the guy he was always supposed to be.
