This Spiritual Stuff’s Working Pretty Well for Mickey

This morning I saw Mickey. Drugs and alcohol had ruined his relationships and started to take out his career. A smart guy, he could see where things were headed and knew he needed to make some changes.

So Mickey sought help — which brought him to Helping Up Mission and our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program last January.

Toxic and tired when he arrived, Mickey focused on his spiritual growth and developed some good relationships here. He began feeling (and looking!) a lot better — inside and outside.

When eligible to go back to work, Mickey did. He had a successful 14-year career in finance and, after a tough honest talk with his old boss, returned to his same job at the same company.

Mickey said he had two specific prayer requests at work: 1.) That God would prosper his efforts there; 2.) That he would be a witness for God to others.

Back there five months now, things have gone very well for him professionally. And Mickey’s been able to share — with those interested in listening — how God is working in his life.

In fact, things have gone so well that Mickey got a promotion and a new opportunity in the company. He was even able to hire another guy here at HUM to work with him.

It doesn’t matter who we are or where we’ve been — addiction can take us out! But…it doesn’t matter who we are or where we’ve been — God can help us out and hook us up!

The cool thing about my job is that I get to see how this plays out in guy’s lives every day. This stuff really works!
