Mr. Marvin Minor: US Marine, Persevered, Humble

The September issue of Bridges (News from Business Interface LLC – see link) had a front page feature story about one of their successes – Marvin Minor. Marvin joined BI while in his final phase of our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program. He arrived at Helping Up Mission looking for hope, answers and some empowerment in August 2010, after years of struggling with his addiction.

When he graduated from our program one year later, Marvin had already received training at Business Interfaces’ Customer Service Associate training program and their help in finding employment. Having finished his 90-day probation period, Marvin also moved back home from our on-campus graduate transition housing.

Sadly, after this wonderful restart to his life, Marvin passed away suddenly in September. A quiet and humble guy, a Marine with a good spiritual foundation, Marvin’s smile and sweet spirit will be missed.   But we thank God for the opportunity to know him and offer him some support along his way.

Always and only one day at a time,
