A Moment of Clarity in Fells Point!

Bill’s been in our Spiritual Recovery Program 5 months today. His family did an intervention on him 5 months and 1 week ago and brought him here.

He’s a bright guy with lots of skills – including being an underwater welder! But Bill has been most successful managing in the food service industry. Yet, that was also the world which fueled his addiction to both drugs and alcohol.

Upon arriving at HUM, Bill accepted that he had to be here for the moment but he was not going to stay. He was very honest, even vocal, about the fact that he would be leaving after the 45-day blackout.

So, on his 45th day, Bill was walking through Fells Point to a recovery meeting with other guys. He looked around at everything going on and thought to himself that he really wasn’t ready to get back out there. He just knew he would go get high. It was a moment of clarity for Bill.

He says that was the point when he bought into the spiritual recovery concept of Honest Open and Willing (HOW), with “Willing” coming up big!

As much as his 45 days of blackout dragged on, the past 3.5 months have flown by. Eligible to go back to work now, Bill decided he’s is not ready to go back there yet, either.

Instead he’s accepted an Intern responsibility here. He’s going to use his skills to make a difference in the lives of other guys who need to experience a little bit of what’s happened to him.
