Benny told me his name and explained that he came to our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program in 2006. He’d struggled with drug addiction for years and stayed here a while but left months before he was to graduate from our Program.
Friday morning Benny had been in the neighborhood and saw one of our grads on the street that he knew – probably from the days when they were both using! So he decided to stop by.
All he wanted to say to me was thanks for all the good Helping Up Mission had done for him. Although he didn’t graduate, he credits us with helping him regroup his life.
While between jobs at the moment, Benny’s been clean 6 years, has his own place and is active in his church.
Life’s good for Benny and he just wanted to say thanks. Then he left!
Now that’s what Good Friday’s really all about!
