Proverb for the Day 6:27-28 — Girls…Fire…Burned!!!

Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?

These two verses are rhetorical questions in the context of father’s message to his son (:20-35) about adulterous relationships. It’s guy talk…about girls!
“Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?” Just as it sounds, the literal picture is of a man choosing to take fire into his own clothing and somehow not get burned.

“Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?” As literal as it sounds.

When it comes to messing around with another man’s wife…the answer to these two questions is a resounding NO!

Of course, momma could (and should) have the same kind of talk with her daughters. To not understand the consequences of such actions will cost any of us.

My grandmother used to say the same thing to me – except in a different context! Maybe you know it, “If you play with fire you’re going to get burned!”
