The Right Job, Right Company, Right Pay, Right Shift, Right Bus Line…

Kevin stopped me this week because he had some good news he wanted me to know.

This is his second time in our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program. First time he just wanted to feel better and get things under control — not really interested in spiritual recovery. He stayed 5 months.

When he came back last year, it was a different guy! Kevin was engaged in class discussions and offered some wonderful insights.

We also had some private talks and it was clear that this Kevin was working spiritual recovery — and it was clearly working in him!

At the point when men are eligible to go back to work here, we try to help them make good choices. If the job offered doesn’t really feel right, it’s appropriate to turn it down.

I believe God knows for us the right job, at the right time, with the right company, for the right salary, with the right benefits, on the right shift, with the right supervisor and right co-workers, on the right bus line!

As Kevin was eligible for work, he got two different job interviews. He was excited and we prayed about each one. But in both cases it didn’t quite fit — so he told them no.

He said he’s never turned down a job offer in his life, but Kevin knew this was right. But while it felt good — he still wanted to work!

So when he grabbed me this week, he said, “You won’t believe it. I just got the right job at the right company, for the right pay, on the right bus line!”

In 3 weeks Kevin turns 51 and graduates from our one-year Program. Now, he’ll be employed two weeks earlier.

Wahoo! It still works!
