Tim Green — Jesus Sure Did Make A Difference!

This morning, 2008 HUM grad Chris shared his story with us in Chapel (http://helpingupmission.blogspot.com/2015/07/its-still-working-one-degree-at-time.html).

This evening in Chapel we hold a memorial service at the passing of 2001 HUM grad Tim Green.

Both guys found a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ at Helping Up Mission. Both continued to live out their faith after leaving here.

When I first met Tim in 2000, he’d been a pretty rough guy. But he’d already had a spiritual awakening — the night before he arrived! And the guy I knew never looked back!

Tim graduated from HUM the following year and took his first real job ever — washing dishes.

But Tim wanted more — he wanted a Maryland Driver’s License. He took his test in my car…failed the first time…but nailed it the second!

He worked here as a driver for five years — but still wanted more. He earned his CDL license, taking his driving career to another level.

In recent years Tim and family lived right behind HUM. He was a wonderful father to his children! But he always had time to come back across the street to see both the old and new guys here on campus.

Earlier this week, Tim was on a service call in his company truck but never made it to his destination. He’d pulled over on I-95 and had a heart attack. It must have been massive and quick, his phone was sitting there next to him.

We’ll miss our brother here. Tonight we’ll celebrate his life and home-going.

We’ll also do all we can for his kids. They’re part of our HUM family now and there’s plenty of crazy uncles on this side of the street to help carry on all that dad taught them!

Always and Only…One Day at a Time,
