GAB&GVB vs. The Half-Marathon

This is my 5th half-marathon in the Baltimore Running Festival. While I ran in high school and college, and spent a dozen years as a local high school track and cross country coach, I have to admit my running days are over. What I do on the 13.1 mile course can hardly be called running – I just say that I “participate!”

So, the reason I do it at all is because I am “participating” for a Cause – Helping Up Mission. I have been here 12 years and am truly excited about what happens here.

This year, for the first time, my wife Gayle is going to “participate” with me. And we are inviting our friends to join us in supporting something bigger than ourselves – something that is making a difference in the lives of men who are in need and want help.

We would love to have you “participate” with us this year, too. Gayle and I set a goal of raising $2,000 toward providing hope, answers and empowerment for the men of HUM.

If you are interested and would like to help, check out our webpage at:

Even if you can’t help this year, we appreciate your prayers – and not just that we can finish! Pray for us to follow God’s direction in all we do at HUM.

One Day at a Time,

Pastor Gary Byers
Spiritual Life Director
