Proverb for the Day 1:23 — Simple, Mockers, Fools & Wisdom – Oil & Water?…Maybe Not!

Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.

Lady Wisdom is speaking to the simple, mockers and fools (:22) and tells them to “repent at my rebuke!” To repent is to turn back, turn around. It’s a call to be different – if they’re willing.

If they are, they would find themselves in a place to receive “my thoughts” and “my teachings” from Wisdom. In an incredible turn of events, the simple, mockers and fools would be able to start seeing life from God’s point of view (our definition of wisdom).

It’s absolutely possible. All any of us has to do is admit we really need help and accept that there is a God who knows better than we do. Then make a decision to receive and begin applying the insights and understanding we are given.

This is, in fact, the essence of the first 3 Steps of the 12 Steps. They can be summed up like this: I Can’t (Step 1); He Can (Step 2); So Let Him (Step 3).

It’s not rocket science. And it’s something even the simple, mockers and fools can access and experience. I’m in!
