Like Father, Like Son…Just 7 Years Apart!

In 2006, Old Ben came to Helping Up Mission. In his mid-fifties, he was really tired of living with his addiction and needed – wanted – to change.

So Ben joined our 12-month residential Spiritual Recovery Program and made serious efforts to live his life differently. He graduated one year later and continued living on campus in our graduate transitional housing.

Ben’s still here and is really old now!

Last year, Young Ben came to Helping Up Mission. In his mid-forties, he was really tired of living with his addiction and needed – wanted – to change just like his father did 7 years ago!

Yesterday Young Ben graduated from our 12-month program, too. He has a good job in the community today and was just not able to get time off to be at our chapel service. But Young Ben send a message of hope and gratitude to everyone.

It’s a first for us here at Helping Up Mission. Father and son graduates of our Spiritual Recovery Program.

Both still live on campus, too! But they’re not roommates – a mutual decision!
